As a professional with experience in the IT industry, I will tell you that the hard drive freezer trick is a myth. I was really surprised by how many articles and posts on the forum is to be seen on-line, arguing that the freezing of a disk in an attempt to recover data has never worked. This trick is a little 'luck, but we must also make sure we do it well.
Do not expect that this is a permanent solution, because it is not. Furthermore, we do not expect this with a working poor> Drive every time. What can this trick, you can expect that the unit is turned on for sufficient time to receive a copy of important files on another device.
While the hard drive freezer trick can potentially do more harm than to make the record, there is the possibility that the coolant temperature to enable a feature soon.
